Nothing leaves as waste: livestock waste becomes fertiliser and biogas, water from the aquaculture system irrigates the garden, and by-products return as inputs.
A loop only closes when there is equipment to send the flow back round. That is the part CAS builds itself: the treatment, mixing and distribution stations that sit inside the farm.
In a recirculating hydroponic system, water and nutrients do not flow one way and get thrown out. After passing the growing beds the solution is collected back, filtered, measured again, topped up by exactly what the crop used, and returned to the irrigation loop.
The CAS nutrient station is where that loop closes: stock solution tanks, a pump set and a distribution manifold feeding each growing zone. Compared with run-to-waste irrigation, this markedly cuts the water and nutrients that have to be bought — and, more importantly, keeps surplus solution out of the surrounding soil and water.
